So many of the new movies and TV series which have come out this year and early next year are in relation to old wives tales and especially classic children’s fairytales. Starting with the release of the 2011 version of Little Red Riding Hood and before that Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, the door was opened to many new versions and twists on classic Disney tales and fairytales.
Such examples as the two Snow White’s that are to be released March 2012 as Mirror Mirror (Julia Roberts as the evil Queen and Lilly Collins as Snow White) and the second one called Snow White and the Huntsman (Kristen Stewart as Snow White) come to mind on this theme. There is also the Gemma Arterton and Jeremy Renner rendition to be released of the classic story of Hansel and Grettel which promises to be interesting. All of these put their own spin on the classic tales and repackage them in a way that could promise to be fun and interesting.
In the world of Television a new show soon to be released called Grimm in honour of the Brothers Grimm fairytales promises to be very good. Starring David Giuntoli, Russel Hornsby, and Silas Weir Mitchell, this show is another round at modernising and reinterpreting the age old fairytales of the past. Clearly the current year has got to be a magical one with all of these new movies and ideas coming out.
Keep your eyes peeled as rumours about yet more ideas for fairytale twists have been emerging right and left. This along with all the many superhero movies that continue to be released and excellently produced are the promise of the coming year and will continue to provide the quality entertainment that regular TV and movie viewers all clamour for.
